Trichostatin C is a fungistatic antibiotic originally isolated from|Streptomyces sp.|culture broth. Trichostatin C is also a glucoside analog of Trichostatin A and is noted to be a first example of a glucopyranosyl hydroxamate from nature. This compound has been demonstrated to act as an effective inducer of erythroid differentiation in a murine erythroleukemia cell line (Friend cell line), although less potent than Trichostatin A. Additional studies utilizing murine splenocytes and Trichostatin C note an increase in histone H4 acetylation level|in vitro|.
