Rat Sprague-Dawley osteosarcoma
Cell Line Description
A cloned derivative of a transplantable rat osteogenic sarcoma. Cells retain many characteristics of the tumour including responsiveness to parathyroid hormone, cytosol receptors for the bone resorbing steroid hormone 1,25-OH)2D3 and prostaglandins. Similar to cell line UMR-106.

Culture Medium
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
