General description

1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorododecyltrichlorosilane(FTCS) is a fluorosilane that can be used as a low surface energy material. It forms a hydrophobic coating with high wetting properties and contact angle.

Application

1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane (FAS21, FDDTS) was used to prepare a hydrophobic surface in a study. Self assembled monolayers of FDDTS were formed on titania substrates to render the surfaces hydrophobic.

FTCS can be incorporated in polyvinylidiene fluoride(PVDF) with titanium oxide(TiO₂) which can be used for membrane distillation for water treatment and anti-fouling based application.
