Solid state electronics remove the sparking normally associated with mechanical switching. A single stirring module controls the stirring on all three positions. For additional operator protection a stainless steel safety screen is grounded directly to the supply cable that encloses the heaters. In the event of a spill the heater element is supplied as a cartridge for quick and easy replacement. The flexible heating element is located within a thermal insulating former to provide maximum heat transfer coupled with minimum risk of flask breakage. External surfaces are PTFE-coated and resistant to most chemical solutions. The robust construction permits continuous operation of the units as required by routine extraction tests. Each position has an indicator light to show when power and heaters are on. Each mantle is supplied with three support rods 12.7 mm ( 1/2") in diameter. Clamps are built into each unit and a PTFE coated stirring bar is provided for each position.
