For example, it is required when testing the affects of expression of potential oncogenes where the induction of the loss of contact inhibition is being measured, whereas it is of less significance when using the cell line to express recombinant proteins for production and purification.

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO₂; 37°C.
