General description

Ammonium molybdate tetrahydrate (AMT) is a molybdenum salt. Study of its extraction from nickel-molybdenum (Ni€“Mo) ore by direct hydrometallurgical method has been reported. Its degradation by combustion to form elemental molybdenum powder using metallic reducers has been investigated.

Application

Ammonium molybdate tetrahydrate may be used in the following processes:

• As a precursor in the generation of calcium molybdate (CaMoO₄) spherulites.
• Synthesis of porous carbon-supported molybdenum dioxide (MoO₂).
• Preparation of Iodine-iodide-molybdate solution to determine glucose level by glucose oxidase method.
• Preparation of polymer bulk heterojunction solar cells.
• As a precursor in the synthesis of Mo-N-codoped TiO₂ (titanium dioxide).
• Synthesis of MoBi₂S₅ (molybdenum bismuth sulphide) thin films.

Applied in the ultrasonic synthesis of phase-pure praseodymium molybdate, Pr₂Mo₃O₁₂.
Reagent used for oxidation of sulfides to sulfonyls.
