Cell Line Description
Mouse melanoma which produces melanin.
Application
B16-F1 cell line from mouse has been used to study the cytotoxic and antioxidant properties of supercritical CO2 extract (SCE) of old man′s beard (Usnea barbata). It has also been used to study the antiproliferative activity of essential oils from Achillea ligustica.
Culture Medium
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:4 i.e. seeding at 2-5x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
