Beef Extract Paste is prepared from specially selected fresh lean beef for use in bacteriological culture media. It is highly nutritious and supports good growth of a wide variety of microorganisms. Owing to its nutritive value, it serves as a crude source of carbon and nitrogen, therefore recommended for use in bacteriological media. Appearance Brownish yellow to brown Homogenous Highly viscous paste, having Characteristic odor but not putrescent. Solubility Freely soluble in distilled/purified water, insoluble in alcohol. Clarity 1% w/v aqueous solution remains clear without haziness after autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121oC) for 15 minutes. Reaction Reaction of 2% w/v aqueous solution at 25oC. Storage and Shelf Life Store below 30°C. Use before expiry date on the label.
