BPL HiVegTM Agar is used for selective isolation and identification of Salmonellae with the exception of Salmonella Typhi in faeces, urine, meat, milk and other materials. It inhibits gram-positive organisms and also Salmonella Typhi and Shigella species. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk. Application: For Isolation & Identification of Salmonellae Except Salmonella Typhi in Faeces, Urine, Milk & Other Materials Appearance of powder: beige coloured, may have slightly greenish tinge, homogeneous, free flowing powder Gelling: firm, comparable with 1.3% agar gel Colour and clarity: Brownish green coloured, clear to slightly opalescent gel forms in petri plates Reaction of 4.0% w/v aqueous solution is pH 6.5 ± 0.2 at 25°C cultural response: cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35 - 37°C for 18 - 24 hours in a humid atmosphere
