C.L.E.D. HiVegTM Agar Base w/o Indicator is recommended for isolation, enumeration and presumptive identification of bacterial flora in urinary tract. Hiveg medium is recommended for use in urine bacteriology, promoting the growth of all urinary pathogens. It is also used for dipstick procedures and as dip inoculum transport medium for urine specimens. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk. Appearance of Powder: Yellow colored, may have slightly greenish tinge, homogeneous, free flowing powder Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.5% Agar gel Color and Clarity: Green colored, very slightly opalescent gel forms in petri plates Reaction of 3.61% w/v aqueous solution is pH 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25°C Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37°C for 18-24 hours
