Cetrimide HiVeg Agar Base, 2.5KG

This animal free medium was developed by Lowburry and is a modification of Tech Agar (Medium A) with addition of cetrimide for selective isolation of P. Aeruginosa. These media are used for the examination of cosmetics and clinical specimens for the presence of Ps.aeruginosa, as well as for evaluating the efficacy of disinfectants against this organism. Ps.aeruginosa colonies may appear pigmented blue, blue-green or non-pigmented. Colonies exhibiting fluorescence at 250nm and a blue green pigmentation are considered as presumptive positive. Appearance of powder: Light yellow colored, may have slightly greenish tinge, homogeneous, free flowing powder Gelling: Firm comparable with 1.5% Agar gel Color and Clarity: Light amber colored, opalescent gel forms in petri plates Reaction of 4.67% w/v aqueous solution containing 1% v/v glycerol is pH 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37°C for 24-48 hours
