ChemStar pumps have all five defining features needed for pumping corrosive gases. High contamination Tolerance: Made from Viton®, PTFE, Stainless Steel, Nickel Plated or Anodized, or Chemical Resistant Grade Cast Iron. Reduced Frictional Wear: Lower rotational speed results in less wear, cooler running and longer service life. ChemStar pumps rotate at speeds less than 580 RPM, compared with over 1700 RPM of direct-drive vacuum pumps. Dry Nitrogen Purge both degasses and cools the pump oil reducing the corrosion rate in the pump. Accessories (available on special order): Protective accessories may be needed for heavy corrosive gas loads which may contain particulates; Oil filtration system removes essentially all abrasive particulates (>1.0 micron) and simulataneously absorbs over 250 cc of hydrous acids or condensed moisture. An Acid Neutralization Trap can neutralize acidic gases before ingestion by the pump. Stainless Steel Hermetically-Sealed Oil Mist Eliminator automatically drains coalesced pump oil back into pump and permits exhausted corrosive gases to be piped out of the work area. These model pumps have the same specifications as the 1400B models. (1) The larger the ratio of quarts of oil to CFM of pumping, the more effective the dilution of contaminants.
