Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium is a glycosaminoglycan, obtained from domestic animal cartilage used in human food. It is composed of a copolymer of N-acetylchondrosamine and d-glucuronic acid, linked alternately between β-1,4 and β-1,3. The glycosaminoglycan is mostly composed of the sodium salt of the sulfate ester of N-acetylchondrosamine, and is primarily mono sulfated in position 4, and less so in position 6.

Application

Chondroitin sulfate sodium USP reference standard for use in specified quality tests and assays.

Also used to prepare standard solutions for strength, composition, and performance tests according to the given below monographs of United States Pharmacopeia (USP):

• Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium Tablets
• Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium Tablets
• Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium
• Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium, and Methylsulfonylmethane Tablets
