Columbia C.N.A. HiVeg¢"¢ Agar Base is recommended for selective isolation of pathogenic Gram positive cocci from clinical and nonclinical specimens. The addition of the antimicrobial agents, colistin (or polymyxin B) and nalidixic acid, renders the medium selective for gram-positive microorganisms. Blood supplies X-factor both X-factor and V-factor for growth. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
