Dextrose HiVegTM peptone broth is recommended for the cultivation of fastidious organisms, enumeration of thermophilic bacteria from canned food and for routine sterility testing. Dextrose is the energy source of organisms. Supplementation of the medium with blood provides additional nutrients. Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes grows luxuriantlly on this medium. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
