Dextrose Proteose Peptone HiVeg⢠agar base with added blood and tellurite is used for isolation of Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Proteose peptone serves as source of carbon, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals."
Dextrose Proteose Peptone HiVegTM agar base with added blood and tellurite is used for isolation of Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Proteose peptone serves as source of carbon, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals. Dextrose serves as an energy source. Sodiumbchloride helps to maintain the osmotic equilibrium. Potassium tellurite serves as a selective agent. Corynebacterium diphtheriae grows as black colored colony due to tellurite reduction. It is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk. Application: For Laboratory Chemicals, Analytical Purpose, Biochemical Analysis Appearance of powder: Light yellow colored may have slightly greenish tinge, homogeneous, free flowing powder Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.5% Agar gel Color and Clarity: Reddish brown opaque gel forms in petri plates after addition of blood and tellurite solution Reaction: Reaction of 4.2% w/v aqueous solution is pH 7.4 ± 0.2 at 25 deg C
