DNA Gel Loading Solution, 5X is prepared according to Sambrook, Fritsch & Maniatis. The purpose of this reagent is to be a tracking dye during electrophoresis. It ensures that DNA samples remain submerged in the wells of the gel, by making them denser than the electrophoresis buffer. The rate of migration varies with gel composition. DNA Gel Loading Solution, 5X is suitable for: use with agarose or non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), DNA gel electrophoresis, Northern and Southern blot analysis, and most commonly loading and tracking of DNA samples on electrophoretic gels.
