Endo HiVeg Agar Base, 5KG

Endo HiVegTM Agar Base is recommended for preparing Endo Agar to confirm presumptive test for lactose fermenting coliforms. Hiveg media recommended by APHA as an important medium in the microbiological examination of water and wastewater, dairy products and foods. It is used to confirm the detection and enumeration of coliform bacteria following presumptive test of drinking water. It is also used for the detection and isolation of coliforms and fecal coliforms from milk, dairy products and food. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk. Appearance of powder: light purple coloured, homogeneous, free flowing powder that may contain a large amount of minute to small dark particles Gelling: firm, comparable with 1.5% of MV029 or 1.2% of MV1077 or 1.25% of MV1075 agar gel Colour and clarity: orangish pink coloured, clear to slightly opalescent gel with fine precipitate forms in petri plates Reaction of 4.15% w/v of MV029 or 3.8% w/v of MV1077 aqueous solution is pH 7.5 ± 0.2 at 25°C. Reaction of 3.86% w/v of MV1075 aqueous solution is pH 7.4 ± 0.2 at 25°C Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35 - 37°C for 18-24 hours
