Forget Fredette agar is recommended for selective isolation of anaerobes from a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic flora. Sodium azide in the medium inhibits gram-negative cocci, bacilli and most of the gram-positive aerobes. It can also be used for surface cultivation of anaerobes in plates in anaerobic jars.
