Glucose Cysteine HiVegTM agar base w/ Thiamine is recommended for cultivation and enumeration of Pasteurella tularensis. Addition of blood or hemoglobin or hemin provides necessary growth factors. Thiamine and cysteine hydrochloride in the medium acts as growth factor promoters for culturing of Pasteurella. Minute droplet like colonies of Pasteurella develops in 48 hours. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
