ISP HiVegTM Medium No. 1 (Tryptone Yeast Extract HiVegTM broth) is recommended as a general purpose enrichment medium for not particularly fastidious microorganisms. This medium is formulated as per International Streptomyces Project. Tryptone and yeast extract provide nitrogenous compounds, carbon, sulphur, vitamin B complex and trace elements, necessary for bacterial metabolism. with added carbohydrate and a pH indicator, it can also be used for fermentation studies. ISP HiVegTM Medium No. 1 is prepared by using vegetable peptones in place of animal based peptones which make the media free of BSE/TSE risks. Application: For Laboratory Chemicals, Analytical Purpose, Biochemical Analysis Appearance: Light yellow to yellow colored, homogeneous, free flowing powder Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.2% Agar gel, of MV1272 Color and clarity: Light amber colored, clear to slightly opalescent gel forms in petri plates, clear solution in tubes Reaction: Reaction of 2.1% w/v aqueous solution of MV1272 is Ph 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C, Reaction of 0.8% w/v aqueous solution of MV356 is pH 7.0 ± 0.2 at 25°C Cultural response: Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37°C for 18 - 24 hours on MV1272
