Kynuramine, an endogenously occurring amine, is a fluorescent substrate and probe of plasma amine oxidase.In VitroKynuramine inhibits both presynaptic and postsynaptic α-adrenoceptors in vitro. Kynuramine has been shown to act as a partial agonist on serotonin receptors in dog cerebral arteries. Kynuramine (20 μg/mL) frequently causes a small contraction of the ileum but failed to alter the twitch response to cholinergic stimulation.
