L. mono Confirmatory HiVeg Agar Base, 500G
L. mono Confirmatory agar base is recommended for the selective and differential isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from clinical and food specimens.
L. mono Confirmatory agar base is recommended for the selective and differential isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from clinical and food specimens. Differentiation of L.monocytogenes from other Listeria species is based on phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C (PIPLC) activity and fermentation of a-Methyl D-mannoside. Phospholipase C enzyme activity results in the formation of an opaque halo around the colonies. Listeria monocytogenes, Listeria ivanovii exhibit positive PIPLC activity, Listeria ivanovii appears as light purple colony while Listeria monocytogenes produce yellow colored colony. This medium is prepared by completely replacing animal based peptone with vegetable peptones to avoid BSE/TSE risks associated with animal peptones. Application: For Laboratory Chemicals, Analytical Purpose, Biochemical Analysis Appearance of powder: Pinkish beige colored, homogeneous free flowing powder Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.2% Agar gel Color and Clarity: Purple colored, opalescent gel forms in petri plates Reaction: Reaction of 7.7% w/v aqueous solution is pH 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C
