M17 Agar is recommended by the International Dairy Federation for selective enumeration of Streptococcus thermophilus from yoghurt. M17 Agar is recommended by APHA for the cultivation of lactic Streptococci. Bacteriophages presence is observed by appearance of characteristic plaques over the bacterial growth.
