It is also used in the synthesis of methanesulfonamides using various amine precursors. Additionally, the mixture of methanesulfonic anhydride and dimethyl sulfoxide can be used as an oxidizing agent for the oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to aldehydes and ketones.
