Middlebrook 7H11 HiVegTM agar base w/o Malachite Green is recommended for isolation, cultivation and determination of antimicrobial susceptibility of Mycobacteria. Addition of Middlebrook OADC Growth Supplement (FD018) makes media selective. Mycobacteria grows luxuriantlly on the media. Malachite green partially inhibits other bacteria. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
