In this phase, it crystallizes in the monoclinic system and exhibits space group P2₁. Saturated aqueous solution of potassium sodium tartrate (Rochelle salt) has been used for the preparation of its tetrahydrate crystals.

Potassium sodium tartrate tetrahydrate is a ferroelectric crystal with a high piezoelectric effect and electromechanical coupling coefficient.

Application

Potassium sodium tartrate tetrahydrate has been used in the β-1,3-glucanase activity assay.

Potassium sodium tartrate tetrahydrate may be used as a component to prepare DNS (3,5- dinitrosalicylic acid) reagent and Fehling€²s solution B, which are used in the determination of reducing sugar.
