Sabouraud Maltose HiVeg Agar, 500G

Hiveg medium used for the isolation and differentiation of yeast and moulds. The low pH of the medium favors fungal growth and inhibits contaminating bacteria from clinical specimens . The acid reaction of the final medium is inhibitory to a large number of bacteria making it particularly useful for cultivating fungi and aciduric microorganisms. Application: For Propagation of Moulds & Yeasts, Parasitic Fungi From Skin & Scalp Lesions Appearance of powder: Light yellow colored, may have slightly greenish tinge, homogeneous, free flowing powder Color and Clarity: Light amber colored, clear to slightly opalescent gel forms in petri plates Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.5% Agar gel of MV062 Reaction of 6.5% w/v of MV062 or 5.0% w/v of MV064 aqueous solution is pH 5.6 ± 0.2 at 25°C Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation of 25 - 30°C for 48 - 72 hours
